New Year, New Beginnings

Governor Lujan Grisham Announces PED Leadership!

Today, Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham announced her appointee to lead the Public Education Department as well as key supplemental department leaders. A very dynamic lineup of experts and leaders have been chosen to lead the Governor's education agenda which includes strong support for community school initiatives. Karen Trujillo, the secretary-designee and the deputy secretaries have all been educated in New Mexico schools and each has worked extensively in our state education system. The designees include a former Communities In Schools of New Mexico Board Member, Gwen Perea Warniment. Pictured from left to right are Pedro Noguera, Special Advisor to the Secretary; Tim Hand; Karen Trujillo, Secretary-Designee; Katarina "Kata" Sandoval; Governor Lujan Grisham; Gwen Perea Warniment; Lieutenant Governor, Howie Morales; Kara Bobroff and Daniel Manzano.

The CIS Team looks forward to working with this stellar "all-star" team to advance education opportunities for all New Mexico children.

Welcome, New Site Coordinators!

A warm welcome to our new Site Coordinators, joining us this January, and supporting our efforts to bring CIS school-based staff into every school that "feeds" to Capital High School. This allows us to provide an essential continuum of support for students from Pre-K through the 12th grade.

Pictured from left to right are CIS Program Directors Christina Gutierrez McCorquodale and Katy Medley, El Camino Real Academy Site Coordinator, Berta Gutierrez and Nina Otero Community School Site Coordinators, Alexandra Mazares and Miriah Borrego-Gonzales. A warm welcome to Berta, Alexandra and Miriah!
