Please join Communities In Schools staff and board to celebrate our 10th anniversary with a special dinner at Horno Restaurant .

Mingle with staff, board, and friends of CIS while enjoying appetizers and wine, and then sit down to a delicious, locally-sourced three-course meal with drinks included. (Fun fact: Horno Restaurant is owned by former CIS site coordinator Heather Sellers!)

Throughout the evening, you'll hear from CIS site coordinators about the important work they do forging relationships with students and leveraging strong community partnerships to ensure all students have the ability to thrive.

We can't wait to celebrate with you!

Our Story:

Communities In Schools of New Mexico began as The Salazar Partnership in 1998. Bill and Georgia Carson, retired educators from Chicago answered an appeal for help from a local elementary school principal. Working closely with members of the United Church of Santa Fe, the Carsons developed an organically-designed, wrap-around service program.

In 2012, the Salazar Partnership became the 26th State Affiliate of Communities In Schools, bringing CIS's proven framework for increasing graduation rates to New Mexico.

Based on the belief that it is relationships, not programs, that change children, CIS of New Mexico currently serves over 6,000 children and youth in ten Santa Fe Public schools.

Our Site Coordinators build trusting relationships with students, families, and school administration to help foster community and improve school culture. Young people can thrive when adults care about them on a one-to-one level and support them throughout any circumstance. It is the power of relationships that make our community strong.

In 2021, we were honored to be recognized by the Santa Fe Community Foundation with the Piñon Quiet Inspiration Award.
Celebrate 10 years of CIS with us on September 14—and hear about how we're planning to grow our impact over the next 10 years.

Net proceeds from this event will benefit Communities In Schools of New Mexico. If you have any questions, please contact Nika Beauchamp at nbeauchamp@cisnm.org.
